BIOGRAPHY
Michał Górka is a multi-instrumentalist from Krakow, Poland.
He was born into a family of musicians, received musical education from an early age, and graduated from the cello class at the Academy of Music in Kraków.
For many years, he has gained solo and chamber music experience by playing in bands with diverse lineups and repertoire – he co-created Ariadne’s Thread, Nocą Umówieni, a project by Miro Kępiński, currently he is a member of the bands Daj Ognia, Shannon, Krive, The Stouters, Light Migrations and Kraków Creek.
As a performer, he has performed at such festivals as Off Camera, Męskie Granie, Mikołajki Folkowe, Nowa Tradycja, Actor’s Song Review, Crossroads, Tournament of True Musicians, Czeremcha, Film Music Festival, Grajdół, Festival of Slavs and Vikings in Wolin, Menuo Juodaragis and Birka Tattoo Fest .
Since 2019, he has been collaborating with the Swedish studio Legendo Entertainment, co-creating, among others, Lyremadr project.
His interests include mainly folk music – in addition to the cello, he plays many ethnic instruments, such as the Scandinavian tagelharpa, mandola, mandolin, tenor banjo, tin whistle flute, interpreting Scandinavian, Irish, Scottish and Polish traditional music.
